How quickly the summer goes... We kicked it off with our only camping trip of the year to Guanella Pass over Memorial Day, drove over 4,000 miles to/from the Outer Banks and tacked on another 2,000 miles on our trip to St. Louis and the Lake.
The boys loved the beach. Jack spent most of his time in the water, Ryan was constantly begging to be taken out into the water and Matt & Alex were determined to stay at least 50 feet away from the ocean. But, no matter where they were, the boys played themselves to exhaustion every night. The Lake was no different. Whether it was riding their tricycles back-and-forth on the deck, playing in the boat or floating in the water (tightly clinging to Mom or Dad), the Triplets were at the age where the Lake really gets fun. Jack, of course, wore himself out swimming, jumping off the dock (both the dock itself and the roof of the dock) and fishing.
Now, after Mom and Dad got a week in Sonoma (thanks TT & Coco!), we're back into school. Jack's in 1st grade and the Triplets run to the truck every morning screaming "Ms. Tammy, Ms. Tammy!". Jack is playing soccer and started cub scouts.
The biggest change in the Hays house is the fact that the Triplets have moved from cribs into "real" beds. Every night, at bedtime, the Triplets play a little game called Prison Riot. You earn points for jumping on your bed, screaming "NO" to your parents and putting yourself in time out. Bonus points can be earned through diaper removal and for demonstrating that you have abandoned reason. A quick check of the scoreboard shows that Alex is the career points leader in Prison Riot with Ryan making a strong push in recent weeks to take the lead. Matt showed promise early on but has apparently realized that no one wins when you play Prison Riot and has digressed into an interested bystander.
